In this article Shuchi Grover, is explaining how computer science is not seen as much as it should be in the elementary school setting. She also states that the definition of computer science is defined wrong. The term is just related to computers and that people do not take in count all the other aspects of the Computer science subject, such as “algorithmic thinking, Boolean logic, functional abstraction, and data organization and management.” She then goes in depth in relating algorithmic thinking, data and structure databases and Booleanian logic for critical thinking.
Why is computer science not popular in the elementary school setting?
My personal opinion is because teachers are not well aware of how they can apply computer science and technology into their teaching. It is important that teaches research and peruses different types of teaching in order to instill creativity into students.
Other than computers what other digital tools can help teach computer science?
I believe computer science can be taught using different instruments such as, calculators, microscopes and even music instruments. Some teachers don’t know how to apply of forms of technology besides the computer.
